EastEnders stayed above the 8 million mark in Friday evening's soap ratings (January 2), overnight figures show.
The Walford drama was once again the most-watched show of the day, bringing in 8.02m (34.5%) at 8pm on BBC One as Emma Summerhayes died from a bleed to the brain. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 499k (2.9%) at 10.30pm.
Coronation Street attracted 7.38m (32.6%) at 7.30pm on ITV as David and Eva became concerned over Kylie's whereabouts, while the audience rose slightly to 7.4m (32.1%) at 8.30pm and 168k (0.7%) on +1 as David and Callum clashed again.
Emmerdale interested 5.93m (28.6%) at 7pm on ITV as Finn met his mother for the first time since he was a baby.
Hollyoaks claimed 857k (4.4%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Rick became the first victim of the show's new serial killer, the Gloved Hand.
Later, E4's first look Hollyoaks screening was the most-watched multichannel programme of the day as 717k (3.4%) saw the Roscoes deal with the aftermath of Rick's demise at 7pm.
