Hollyoaks soars to three-year high on E4 with train crash...

Hollyoaks' E4 screening hit a three-year high on Tuesday evening (November 11) as the soap was boosted by its shock train crash storyline, overnight figures show.

1.17m (5.8%) tuned in at 7pm on E4 and 238k (1.1%) on E4+1 as the McQueen family's party train crashed after Porsche and Lockie's wedding, leading to the tragic death of a long-standing character.

Hollyoaks was the most-watched multichannel programme of the day and had its highest E4 rating since November 2011, when the show was airing the climax of the Silas serial killer storyline.

Earlier, the build-up to the train crash entertained 991k (5.2%) in the traditional 6.30pm slot on Channel 4.

EastEnders was the most-watched soap of the day, bringing in 7.12m (34.2%) at 7.30pm on BBC One as Linda consulted an abortion clinic. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 112k (5.8%) at the later time of 1.30am.

Emmerdale attracted 6.39m (31.9%) at 7pm on ITV and 202k (1.0%) on +1 as Belle turned nasty with Gabby.

Holby City interested 4.66m (21.5%) at 8pm on BBC One as Fleur and Michael went head-to-head, the show's most-watched episode since May 13.

Neighbours claimed 608k (8.8%) at 1.45pm and 804k (5.1%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Josh agreed to keep his distance from Chris.

Casey Braxton's emotional Home and Away exit mustered 292k (4.0%) at 1.15pm and 601k (3.3%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while the aftermath brought 453k (2.4%) to 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, Doctors was seen by 1.51m (21.8%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
