Coronation Street, EastEnders rise in ratings on Monday

Coronation Street and EastEnders continued to rise in the ratings on Monday evening (October 13), overnight figures show.

Corrie pulled in 7.68m (35.5%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 105k (0.5%) on +1 as Peter's murder trial got under way, while the audience rose to 7.96m (35.2%) at 8.30pm and 128k (0.6%) on +1 as Peter began to lose hope following a difficult first day in court.

The ratings were Corrie's highest since Tina's death aired on June 2.

EastEnders also enjoyed a boost, attracting 7.21m (31.9%) at 8pm on BBC One as Linda reached breaking point during Nancy's 21st birthday celebrations - also the show's best rating since June 2. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 286k (2.1%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale interested 6.53m (32.1%) at 7pm on ITV and 140k (0.6%) on +1 as Charity was attacked by an unknown assailant as she tried to do a runner from the village.

Hollyoaks continued to perform well with 1.13m (5.9%) watching Sienna knock down Patrick at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 129k (0.6%) on +1. E4's first look then achieved its highest rating of the year so far with 975k (4.8%) tuning in for the aftermath at 7pm and 206k (0.9%) catching up on +1.

Neighbours entertained 744k (10.1%) at 1.45pm and 774k (5.2%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Dakota continued to scheme.

Home and Away mustered 242k (3.1%) at 1.15pm and 581k (3.4%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look followed with 417k (2.2%) at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.54m (21.1%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
