Hollyoaks ratings boosted by hospital siege plot

Hollyoaks' hospital siege week continued to boost the show's ratings on Wednesday evening (October 8), according to overnight figures.

The soap stayed above the 1 million mark on Channel 4 as 1.08m (6.0%) tuned in at 6.30pm to see Freddie get shot as Big Bob held a number of the villagers hostage at the hospital.

E4's first look showing of Hollyoaks was later boosted to 918k (4.8%) at 7pm and 132k (0.5%) on +1 - the most-watched multichannel programme of the day and the show's highest E4 rating since September 4.

Coronation Street was the most-watched soap of the day, bringing in 6.96m (33.3%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 205k (0.8%) on +1 as Deirdre took her frustrations out on a trifle during a disastrous family dinner for the Barlows.

Emmerdale attracted 5.96m (31.4%) at 7pm on ITV and 199k (0.8%) on +1 as Declan was revealed to still be alive.

Neighbours interested 727k (10.9%) at 1.45pm and 851k (6.1%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Josh confessed to the police following his attack on Chris.

Home and Away entertained 331k (4.8%) at 1.15pm and 635k (3.8%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look rose to 412k (2.3%) at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, Doctors continued with 1.37m (20.7%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
