Trial aftermath brings in highest ratings since February

Hollyoaks scored its highest ratings since February with the aftermath of Finn O'Connor's rape trial on Monday evening (October 6), overnight figures show.

1.19m (6.6%) tuned in at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Myra clashed with Diane following Finn's guilty verdicts, before later spotting an opportunity to get revenge as she discovered Sinead and Tony's affair. E4's first look followed with 766k (3.9%) at 7pm and 142k (0.7%) on +1.

Hollyoaks' performance was its best on Channel 4 since February 6 and was up 412k on the equivalent episode two weeks ago.

Coronation Street was the most-watched soap of the day, bringing in 7.63m (36.8%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 106k (0.5%) on +1 as Tony discovered that Liz had lied to him - the show's best figure since June 9. 7.46m (33.4%) returned at 8.30pm to see the couple's relationship hit the rocks.

EastEnders continued to perform well as 7.04m (32.1%) saw Linda's rape ordeal at 8pm on BBC One. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 388k (3.0%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale interested 6.38m (32.5%) at 7pm on ITV and 163k (0.7%) on +1 as Priya began to have second thoughts over her wedding to Rakesh.

Neighbours attracted 746k (10.0%) at 1.45pm and 907k (6.3%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5, as Chris became the victim of a shocking attack.

Home and Away managed 251k (3.2%) at 1.15pm and 603k (3.6%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look had 378k (2.1%) at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, BBC One's Doctors continued with 1.49m (20.3%) at 1.45pm.
