Soap ratings rise on Monday

Coronation Street, EastEnders and Emmerdale all enjoyed audience boosts on Monday evening (September 29), overnight figures show.

Corrie led the way in the soap ratings, bringing in 7.54m (36.2%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 102k (0.5%) on +1 as Kylie was caught out by David after taking more of Max's ADHD medication. 7.44m (32.8%) returned at 8.30pm and 109k (0.5%) on +1 as David angrily confronted Kylie over her behaviour.

The Weatherfield drama's 7.30pm rating was its highest figure since June 9.

EastEnders rose to 7.06m (31.4%) at 8pm on BBC One as Phil and Sharon tied the knot - the first time the show has been above the 7 million mark since June 2. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 337k (2.6%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale benefited from the aftermath of its explosive week of episodes, attracting 6.61m (34.6%) at 7pm on ITV and 150k (0.7%) on +1 as Charity feared for her safety following Declan's disappearance - the show's best rating since March 24.

Elsewhere, Hollyoaks interested 924k (5.3%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Nancy confessed to her affair with Rick while giving evidence at Finn's rape trial. The aftermath brought 630k (3.3%) to E4's first look at 7pm and 140k (0.6%) to E4+1.

Neighbours continued to perform well as Terese's latest clash with Lauren was seen by 703k (10.6%) at 1.45pm and 846k (6.2%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5.

Home and Away managed 244k (3.6%) at 1.15pm and 671k (4.2%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look followed with 357k (2.0%) at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, BBC One's Doctors continued with 1.39m (21.1%) at 1.45pm.
