Coronation Street beats EastEnders by over 1m on Monday

Coronation Street came out on top in the soap ratings on Monday evening (September 15), overnight data reveals.

The ITV soap's first episode averaged 7.16 million viewers (36.1%) at 7.30pm (146,000/0.7% on +1), as Todd came up with another ruthless plan.

The second episode rose to 7.35m (33.1%) at 8.30pm (150k/0.7%) as Todd's attempt to frighten Tyrone backfired.

Earlier, Emmerdale brought in 5.65m (27.8%) at 7pm (122k/0.6%) as Megan's attempts to expose Charity's deceit continued to backfire.

BBC One's EastEnders continued with 6.29m (29.1%) at 8pm as Alfie started a fire at home. BBC Three's repeat was seen by 381k (2.8%) at 10.30pm.

On Channel 4, Hollyoaks attracted 821k (4.9%) at 6.30pm as Carmel issued shocking news to her family. E4's first-look was seen by 787k (4.4%) at 7pm (188k/0.9%).

Earlier, BBC One's Doctors appealed to 1.33m (21.1%) at 1.45pm.

Channel 5's Home and Away gathered 195k (3.0%) at 1.15pm and 684k (4.5%) at 6pm. 5*'s first-look brought in 384k (2.3%) at 6.30pm.

Neighbours continued with 748k (11.7%) at 1.45pm and 866k (6.5%) at 5.30pm.
