Coronation Street topped Wednesday's soap ratings (September 3) but was dented by its earlier timeslot, overnight figures show.
6.17m (34.6%) tuned in at the earlier time of 7pm on ITV and 269k (1.2%) on +1 as Carla paid a visit to Peter in hospital and discovered that he didn't kill Tina - down over 1m from Monday's highly-rated episodes.
Hollyoaks appealed to 787k (5.0%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Sinead rejected Tony, while E4's first look continued to rise with 841k (4.7%) watching at 7pm and 168k (0.7%) catching the E4+1 airing.
Over on Channel 5, Neighbours achieved its best lunchtime rating since January 22 as the show attracted 754k (12.3%) at 1.45pm, while 820k (6.4%) watched at 5.30pm. Home and Away managed 270k (4.3%) at 1.15pm, 626k (4.3%) at 6pm and 434k (2.7%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.21m (19.9%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
