Coronation Street and EastEnders both enjoyed audience boosts on Monday evening (September 1), overnight figures show.
Corrie pulled in 7.34m (36.4%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 109k (0.5%) on +1 as Carla was shocked to learn of Peter's health scare, while 7.31m (32.0%) returned at 8.30pm and 170k (0.7%) on +1 as Carla agreed to visit her estranged husband as his life continued to hang in the balance.
The Weatherfield soap had its best rating since July 14, when 7.42m saw Peter first get arrested for Tina's murder.
EastEnders also scored its highest figure since July 14, as 6.59m (30.0%) tuned in at 8pm on BBC One for Stacey's return to Albert Square. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 318k (2.2%) at 10.30pm.
Emmerdale interested 5.87m (32.0%) at 7pm on ITV and 139k (0.6%) on +1 as Ross continued to struggle with his grief.
Hollyoaks attracted 992k (5.8%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with the emotional fallout from John Paul's rape revelation, while E4's first look followed with 762k (4.1%) at 7pm and 177k (0.8%) on +1.
Over on Channel 5, Neighbours mustered 560k (7.6%) at 1.45pm and 824k (6.0%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away managed 193k (2.5%) at 1.15pm, 590k (3.7%) at 6pm and 381k (2.2%) with 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
Elsewhere, Doctors achieved its best rating since May as 1.46m (20.1%) watched at 1.45pm on BBC One.
