6.68m (35.2%) tuned in at 7.30pm on ITV and 170k (0.8%) on +1 as Liz paid a tense visit to Jim at the jail. 6.54m (31.1%) returned at 8.30pm and 223k (1.1%) on +1 as Peter was rushed to hospital after drinking too much of Jim's secret booze supply.

The figures were an improvement on previous weeks as Corrie had its best Friday ratings since the fallout from Tina's murder on June 6.

EastEnders interested 5.83m (29.0%) at 8pm on BBC One as Mick and Linda's relationship remained on the rocks following their recent problems. BBC Three's repeat screening had 386k (2.6%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale attracted 5.51m (31.2%) at 7pm on ITV and 140k (0.7%) on +1 as Marlon and Laurel's future also appeared to be in doubt.

Hollyoaks claimed 809k (4.9%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 140k (0.7%) on +1 as John Paul publicly exposed Finn as a rapist at Nancy and Darren's wedding reception. The emotional fallout in E4's first look episode helped Hollyoaks to become the most-watched multichannel programme of the day, securing 748k (4.2%) at 7pm and 176k (0.9%) on +1.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours entertained 655k (9.3%) at 1.45pm and 793k (6.0%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away appealed to 248k (3.5%) at 1.15pm, 574k (3.6%) at 6pm and 318k (1.9%) with 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
