EastEnders was Thursday evening's most-watched soap (August 21) as the Charlie and Yvonne Cotton storyline continued, overnight figures show.
5.79m (31.0%) tuned in at 7.30pm on BBC One as Charlie faced a tough day due to Emma's questioning and some shock vandalism to his car. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 138k (6.3%) at the later time of 1.30am.
Emmerdale remained close to EastEnders in the ratings, attracting 5.63m (31.9%) at 7pm on ITV and 150k (0.8%) on +1 as Chas suggested shopping Adam to the police, while 5.44m (27.8%) returned at 8pm and 206k (1.0%) on +1 as Aaron stayed loyal to his friend by refusing to let it happen.
Hollyoaks interested 868k (5.3%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with Maxine's return, while E4's first look had 693k (3.9%) at 7pm and 149k (0.8%) on +1.
Over on Channel 5, the continued fallout from the Paige reveal in Neighbours entertained 600k (8.4%) at 1.45pm and 784k (6.2%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away mustered 181k (2.6%) at 1.15pm, 599k (4.0%) at 6pm and 401k (2.5%) with 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
Elsewhere, Doctors continued with 1.17m (16.5%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
