EastEnders pulled back ahead of Emmerdale in Tuesday evening's soap ratings (August 19), overnight figures show.
The Walford drama pulled in 5.77m (31.9%) at 7.30pm on BBC One as Emma warned Max that Charlie is lying about being a policeman. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 399k (2.8%) at 10.30pm.
Emmerdale wasn't too far behind as 5.5m (32.2%) tuned in at 7pm on ITV and 162k (0.9%) on +1 for Ross telling Marlon the truth about Donna's dodgy side.
Holby City managed 3.94m (20.3%) at 8pm on BBC One as Jac's behaviour shocked Elliot.
Hollyoaks attracted 893k (5.7%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Mercedes and Lindsey fought back against Freddie, while E4's first look followed with 669k (3.9%) at 7pm and 181k (1.0%) on +1.
Over on Channel 5, Neighbours' Paige storyline continued with 622k (8.9%) at 1.45pm and 741k (6.0%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away mustered 242k (3.4%) at 1.15pm, 575k (4.0%) at 6pm and 305k (1.9%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors entertained 1.21m (17.4%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
