6.68m (36.5%) watched at 7.30pm on ITV and 188k (0.9%) on +1 as Ken arrived back in Weatherfield after more than a year away, while the audience increased to 7.12m (33.5%) at 8.30pm and 299k (1.4%) on +1 as Ken finally learned of Tina's murder and Peter's imprisonment.
Returning to BBC One following the end of the Commonwealth Games, EastEnders attracted 6.11m (31.4%) at 8pm as Jean Slater paid a visit to Walford. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 275k (1.7%) at 10.30pm.
Emmerdale interested 5.33m (32.5%) at 7pm on ITV and 105k (0.5%) on +1 as Adam's troubles continued.
Hollyoaks appealed to 893k (5.8%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Leela finally told Peri the truth, while a dramatic car crash in E4's first look episode was seen by 665k (4.0%) at 7pm and 178k (0.9%) on +1.
Over on Channel 5, Neighbours appealed to 608k (9.6%) at 1.45pm and 795k (6.8%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away claimed 186k (2.8%) at 1.15pm, 605k (4.3%) at 6pm and 373k (2.4%) with 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
Elsewhere, Doctors returned following its latest transmission break with 1.2m (19.1%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
