Coronation Street's double-bill watched by 5.8m on Friday

Coronation Street was ahead in Friday's soap ratings (July 25) with a Windass-centric double bill, overnight figures show.

5.76m (34.6%) watched at 7.30pm on ITV and 192k (1.0%) on +1 as cash-strapped Anna swallowed her pride by visiting the local food bank, while 5.59m (29.8%) returned at 8.30pm and 232k (1.3%) on +1 to see Anna and Owen finally reunite.

Emmerdale managed 4.48m (29.2%) at 7pm on ITV and 207k (1.2%) on +1 with the aftermath of Finn's attack.

EastEnders rose slightly with another outing on BBC Two, bringing in 3.98m (22.5%) at 8pm as Sharon began to plot revenge against Phil. BBC Three's repeat screening interested 423k (3.0%) at 10.30pm.

Hollyoaks managed 608k (4.4%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Patrick came up with a sick new way to torment Maxine, while E4's first look followed with 562k (3.7%) at 7pm and 173k (1.0%) on +1.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours grabbed 542k (8.8%) at 1.45pm and 677k (5.8%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away mustered 210k (3.2%) at 1.15pm, 479k (3.6%) at 6pm and 223k (1.6%) with 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
