Finn's ordeal tops Thursday soap ratings with 4.7 million

Emmerdale topped a relatively low-rating evening for the soaps on Thursday (July 24) as Finn Barton found himself in serious danger, overnight figures show.

4.59m (29.1%) watched at 7pm on ITV and 100k (0.6%) on +1 as mystery newcomer Brad kidnapped Finn and tried to kill him, while the audience increased to 4.67m (26.6%) at 8pm and 239k (1.3%) on +1 as Finn was rescued and rushed to hospital.

Meanwhile, EastEnders was dented badly after being moved to BBC Two to make way for Commonwealth Games coverage, pulling in just 3.92m (23.6%) at 7.30pm as Sharon finally discovered the truth about her attack. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 462k (3.2%) at 10.30pm.

Hollyoaks attracted 630k (4.5%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Mercedes remained suspicious over Cindy, while E4's first look followed with 511k (3.2%) at 7pm and 151k (0.9%) on +1.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours entertained 489k (8.0%) at 1.45pm and 654k (5.9%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away mustered 210k (3.3%) at 1.15pm, 473k (3.6%) at 6pm and 245k (1.7%) with 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
