Coronation Street: Peter's prison troubles bring in 6.3m

Coronation Street was Wednesday evening's top-rated soap (July 16) as Peter Barlow's ordeal continued, overnight figures show.

6.26m (34.4%) watched at 7.30pm on ITV and 393k (2.1%) on +1 as a furious Peter sacked his solicitor after being advised to plead guilty to Tina's murder.

Emmerdale interested 5.29m (31.4%) at 7pm on ITV and 275k (1.6%) on +1 as Priya told Rakesh about her eating disorder.

Hollyoaks attracted 839k (5.5%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Ste tried to take matters into his own hands after learning of John Paul's rape ordeal. E4's first look secured 769k (4.6%) at 7pm and 181k (1.0%) on +1.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours entertained 616k (9.8%) at 1.45pm and 714k (6.0%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away appealed to 198k (3.1%) at 1.15pm, 533k (3.7%) at 6pm and 307k (2.0%) with 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.29m (20.8%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.

Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
