EastEnders topped Thursday evening's soap ratings (June 12) but was dented against the launch of the World Cup, overnight figures show.
Airing against ITV's coverage of the World Cup opening ceremony, EastEnders brought in 4.94m (26.2%) at 7.30pm on BBC One as the latest police visit to the Square led to surprise passion for Max and DC Summerhayes. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 340k (1.7%) at 10.30pm.
Hollyoaks attracted 735k (5.1%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Patrick fooled Sienna over the identity of her daughter, while E4's first look followed with 638k (4.0%) at 7pm and 122k (0.6%) on +1.
Over on Channel 5, Neighbours entertained 577k (10.0%) at 1.45pm and 618k (5.5%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away managed 182k (3.3%) at 1.15pm, 545k (4.1%) at 6pm and 328k (2.3%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
Elsewhere, Doctors had 1.18m (20.7%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
