Coronation Street grabs 8.5m on Thursday

Coronation Street remained well above the 8 million mark on Thursday evening (May 29) with the aftermath of Rob Donovan's brutal attack on Tina McIntyre, overnight figures show.

8.5m (36.6%) tuned in at 9pm on ITV and 681k (3.8%) on +1 as police suspicion fell on Peter and Carla while Tina fought for her life in hospital.

Emmerdale bagged its best rating of the month so far as Donna and Ross's robbery plan was witnessed by 6.22m (34.3%) at 7pm on ITV and 189k (0.9%) on +1.

Airing against Britain's Got Talent for the final time this year, EastEnders interested 5.28m (24.8%) at 7.30pm on BBC One with the aftermath of David's heart attack. BBC Three's repeat screening later performed well with 605k (4.1%) at 10.30pm.

Hollyoaks managed 903k (5.4%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Holly's lies led to a backlash for Dodger, while E4's first look followed with 619k (3.4%) at 7pm.

On Channel 5, Neighbours continued with 578k (8.0%) at 1.45pm and 705k (5.5%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away mustered 235k (3.2%) at 1.15pm, 582k (3.8%) at 6pm and 306k (1.8%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.28m (17.8%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
