Coronation Street tops Friday soap ratings with 7.7m

Coronation Street topped Friday evening's soap ratings (April 25) as Nick tried to reunite with Leanne, overnight figures show.

The Weatherfield drama pulled in 7.66m (37.2%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 120k (0.5%) on +1 as Nick's hopes shocked Leanne and Kal. 7.13m (30.5%) returned at 8.30pm and 209k (1.0%) on +1 as Leanne gave Nick false hope that she wanted him back.

EastEnders was ahead of the second Corrie, attracting 7.19m (32.7%) at 8pm on BBC One as Ian broke down in Phil's arms as his grief for Lucy became too much to bear. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 425k (2.7%) at 10.30pm.

Both shows saw improved performances on previous weeks, as EastEnders had its best Friday rating since January 17, while Coronation Street enjoyed its highest Friday figure since February 28 with the 7.30pm airing.

Elsewhere, Emmerdale appealed to 6.27m (32.1%) at 7pm on ITV and 131k (0.6%) on +1 as Belle came up with a shock baby plan. This was the show's best Friday performance since March 7.

Hollyoaks interested 989k (5.5%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Trevor was arrested for Fraser's murder. E4's first look topped the day's multichannel ratings with 800k (4.1%) at 7pm.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours bagged its highest lunchtime rating since February 24 with 698k (9.3%) watching at 1.45pm. 836k (5.6%) caught the latest developments from Ramsay Street at 5.30pm, while 5*'s repeat had 136k (0.8%) at 6pm.

Home and Away mustered 223k (2.9%) at 1.15pm, 641k (3.8%) at 6pm and 370k (2.1%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
