Coronation Street tops soap-ratings on Wednesday

Coronation Street topped Wednesday's soap ratings (April 23) as Leanne and Kal's chemistry went a step further, overnight figures show.

The Weatherfield drama pulled in 7.74m (37.8%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 229k (1.0%) on +1 for Leanne and Kal's secret kiss at the Bistro.

The figure was Coronation Street's highest Wednesday rating since February 12.

Meanwhile, Emmerdale interested 6.18m (32.3%) at 7pm on ITV and 183k (0.9%) on +1 as Moira turned devious in her attempts to get rid of James.

Hollyoaks managed 801k (4.5%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with the aftermath of Fraser's murder, while E4's first look followed with 830k (4.3%) at 7pm and 133k (0.6%) on +1.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours had its highest lunchtime rating of the month so far with 681k (10.9%) at 1.45pm for the fallout from Kate's death. 872k (6.3%) watched at 5.30pm and 5*'s repeat screening secured 187k (1.1%) at 6pm.

Home and Away appealed to 201k (3.0%) at 1.15pm, 625k (3.8%) at 6pm and 411k (2.3%) with 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
