EastEnders was ahead in Thursday's soap ratings

EastEnders was Thursday's top-rated soap (March 6) as a dramatic day for the Mitchell family continued, overnight figures show.

7.1m (33.5%) watched at 7.30pm on BBC One as Ronnie shocked Roxy by confessing to Carl's murder. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 403k (2.8%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale attracted 6.38m (31.5%) at 7pm on ITV and 172k (0.8%) on +1 as Belle told Lisa the truth about Gemma's death, while 6.36m (28.6%) returned at 8pm and 205k (0.9%) on +1 as Lisa urged Belle to keep her guilt to herself.

Coronation Street documentary A Moving Story, which followed the soap's shift to its new home in Trafford, entertained 2.72m (12.3%) at 9pm on ITV and 250k (1.6%) on +1.

Hollyoaks interested 971k (5.1%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with Grace and Tegan's clifftop showdown, while E4's first look topped the day's multichannel ratings with 818k (4.0%) at 7pm and 121k (0.5%) on +1.

On Channel 5, Neighbours appealed to 639k (9.5%) at 1.45pm and 786k (5.1%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away grabbed 254k (3.8%) at 1.15pm, 728k (4.1%) at 6pm and 506k (2.7%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.53m (22.9%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
