Coronation Street was ahead in Friday's soap ratings (February 28) with the aftermath of Gary's attack on Phelan, overnight figures show.
8.41m (38.8%) watched at 7.30pm on ITV as Phelan disappeared after being knocked unconscious by Gary. 7.48m (32.8%) returned at 8.30pm and 148k (0.7%) on +1 as Gary feared that Phelan was dead when there continued to be no sign of him.
EastEnders attracted 6.9m (31.2%) at 8pm on BBC One as Kat's drastic attempts to help Stacey backfired on her. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 526k (3.4%) at 10.30pm.
Emmerdale brought in 6.58m (32.7%) at 7pm on ITV and 151k (0.7%) on +1 as a row between Belle and Gemma had terrible consequences.
Hollyoaks appealed to 847k (4.4%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Sienna realised that Peri could be her daughter. E4's first look topped the day's multichannel ratings with 724k (3.6%) at 7pm and 115k (0.5%) on +1.
Over on Channel 5, Neighbours entertained 637k (9.1%) at 1.45pm and 802k (5.2%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away's explosion episode grabbed 238k (3.3%) at 1.15pm and 703k (3.9%) at 6pm. 5*'s first look Home and Away screening had 494k (2.6%) at 6.30pm.
Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.48m (21.2%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
