EastEnders tops Thursday evening's soap ratings

EastEnders was Thursday evening's top-rated soap (January 23) as the Jake and Lauren storyline continued, overnight figures show.

7.44m (34.3%) tuned in at 7.30pm on BBC One as Lauren urged Jake to get his life back on track following his manic behaviour. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 450k (3.0%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale's double bill also performed well with 7.06m (34.0%) watching at 7pm on ITV and 126k (0.6%) on +1 as Jai vowed to track down Rachel, rising to 7.14m (32.2%) at 8pm and 199k (0.8%) on +1 as Jai's actions left Rishi concerned.

Hollyoaks appealed to 1.1m (5.5%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Patrick faced the music over his deception, while E4's first look followed with a strong 804k (3.9%) at 7pm and 138k (0.6%) on +1.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours interested 674k (9.3%) at 1.45pm and 742k (4.6%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away managed 287k (4.0%) at 1.15pm, 576k (3.1%) at 6pm and 509k (2.5%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, BBC One's Doctors hit its highest ratings of the month as the latest episode entertained 1.8m (24.8%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
