			Coronation Street kicked off 2014 on top of the soap ratings, overnight figures show.
The Weatherfield drama's New Year's Day episode pulled in 8.03m (31.0%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 313k (1.2%) on +1 as Liz issued a warning to Peter after learning of his fling with Tina.
EastEnders' hour-long special, which saw Ronnie kill Carl before quickly disposing of his body, attracted 7.3m (27.8%) at 8pm on BBC One. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 444k (3.7%) at the later time of 11.10pm.
Emmerdale interested 6.47m (26.2%) at 7pm on ITV and 243k (0.9%) on +1 as Declan and Charity's plan continued to pay off.
