Hollyoaks' shock explosion plot led to an audience boost on both Channel 4 and E4 on Tuesday evening (October 15), overnight figures show.
1.19m (6.2%) tuned in at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as a bomb went off during Ste and Doug's leaving party at the council flats.
E4's first look, which saw a number of characters killed off, followed with 813k (3.9%) at 7pm and 125k (0.5%) on +1.
Emmerdale was the most-watched soap of the evening, bringing in 7.27m (35.2%) at 7pm on ITV and 171k (0.7%) on +1 as killer Cameron descended on The Woolpack with a shotgun.
EastEnders, which clashed with the England match build-up on ITV, managed 6.35m (28.4%) at 7.30pm on BBC One as Jack decided to leave Albert Square. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 404k (2.8%) at 10.30pm.
Holby City, which was up against the match itself, attracted 4.04m (15.2%) at 8pm on BBC One as Malick struggled with his injury.
Over on Channel 5, Neighbours entertained 574k (9.0%) at 1.45pm and 904k (6.3%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away interested 256k (3.8%) at 1.15pm, 676k (4.1%) at 6pm and 433k (2.3%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors had 1.18m (18.6%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
