Coronation Street continues to perform well in soap ratings

Coronation Street enjoyed another strong performance on Monday evening (October 7) as it almost hit the 9 million mark on first-run showings, overnight figures show.

8.95m (41.1%) tuned in at 7.30pm on ITV and 229k (1.0%) on +1 as Nick ordered David to arrange a DNA test to determine Lily's paternity, while 8.77m (37.8%) returned at 8.30pm and 137k (0.8%) on +1 as David was forced to follow his brother's instructions.

Emmerdale appealed to 7.13m (35.5%) at 7pm on ITV as Pollard headed off on holiday alone, adding 211k (0.9%) on +1.

EastEnders interested 6.93m (30.5%) at 8pm on BBC One with Alfie and Roxy's showdown over Ronnie. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 338k (2.4%) at 10.30pm.

Hollyoaks managed 890k (4.8%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Ste found himself in more trouble, while E4's first look followed with 568k (2.8%) at 7pm and 125k (0.6%) on +1.

Hollyoaks Later kicked off its new series with 396k (2.4%) at 10pm on E4, adding 138k (1.7%) on +1.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours entertained 723k (11.2%) at 1.45pm and 915k (6.6%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away mustered 227k (3.5%) at 1.15pm, 636k (3.8%) at 6pm and 357k (1.9%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.41m (21.9%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
