EastEnders stayed ahead of Emmerdale on Thursday

EastEnders topped Thursday evening's soap ratings (September 26) with the return of David Wicks, overnight figures show.

6.85m (35.5%) watched at 7.30pm on BBC One as David interrupted Carol and Masood's romantic night in. 379k (2.7%) caught BBC Three's repeat screening at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale interested 6.38m (35.6%) at 7pm on ITV and 120k (0.6%) on +1 as Pollard tried to help Amy fix things with Joanie, while 6.08m (29.6%) returned at 8pm and 385k (1.8%) on +1 to see Amy make matters worse for herself.

Waterloo Road attracted 3.02m (14.7%) at 8pm on BBC One with Rhiannon's racy pictures nightmare.

Hollyoaks appealed to 857k (5.2%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with the fire drama at The Loft, while E4's first look had 581k (3.2%) at 7pm and 120k (0.6%) on +1.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours brought in 574k (9.6%) at 1.45pm and 796k (6.2%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away managed 231k (3.8%) at 1.15pm, 586k (3.9%) at 6pm and 390k (2.4%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.38m (23.0%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
