Emmerdale was Thursday's most-watched soap (August 1) as the aftermath of Gennie's death continued to play out, overnight figures show.
The evening's first visit to the Dales, which saw further devastation for Gennie's husband Nikhil, attracted 5.78m (35.4%) at 7pm on ITV and 152k (0.8%) on +1. The audience increased to 5.91m (31.2%) at 8pm and 356k (1.8%) on +1 as Debbie faced more questions over the car crash.
EastEnders brought in 5.74m (32.8%) at 7.30pm on BBC One as Whitney packed her bags to leave Walford. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 530k (3.5%) at 10.30pm.
Hollyoaks managed 728k (4.9%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with Ste's heartbreaking dilemma, while E4's first look had 368k (2.3%) at 7pm.
Over on Channel 5, Neighbours entertained 605k (9.0%) at 1.45pm and 824k (7.1%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away mustered 231k (3.2%) at 1.15pm, 578k (4.2%) at 6pm and 405k (2.7%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.17m (17.3%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
