Coronation Street was Friday's most-watched soap

Coronation Street was Friday evening's (July 19) most-watched soap with the latest problems for Peter Barlow, overnight figures show.

6.38m (37.4%) watched at 7.30pm on ITV and 271k (1.5%) on +1 as Peter's risky behaviour at the bookies led to disaster, while 6.13m (33.3%) returned at 8.30pm and 284k (1.5%) on +1 as Rob demanded a £35,000 payout from Peter.

EastEnders appealed to 5.2m (30.2%) at 8pm on BBC One with more games between Michael and Janine. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 493k (3.3%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale brought in 5.11m (31.9%) at 7pm on ITV and 184k (1.1%) on +1 as Chas's wedding plans caused a stir.

Hollyoaks had 696k (4.8%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Trevor paid a visit to Freddie, while E4's first look was seen by 398k (2.5%) at 7pm.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours grabbed 463k (7.5%) at 1.45pm and 641k (5.7%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away mustered 214k (3.3%) at 1.15pm, 533k (4.1%) at 6pm and 299k (2.1%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
