7.8m watch Carla's shocking news on Monday

Coronation Street came out on top in the soap ratings on Monday night (July 15) for ITV, according to overnight figures.

7.82 million viewers (39.8%) tuned in to see Carla receive shocking news about Peter's possible bankruptcy at 7.30pm, with a further 184,000 (0.9%) watching on +1. Later, 7.69m (36.4%) came back at 8.30pm (262k/1.3% on +1) to see Carla clash with Peter over his crazy deals.

EastEnders attracted 6.22m (31.1%) at 8pm on BBC One as Ian tricked daughter Lucy to get his business back. BBC Three's repeat was seen by 365k (2.3%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale interested 6.05m (34.8%) at 7pm (150k/0.7%) as Vanessa's jealousy over Rhona escalated to a new level.

810k (5.1%) viewers tuned in to Hollyoaks on Channel 4 to see Ste and Sinead's arrest at 6.30pm. E4's first look brought in 710k (4.1%) at 7pm.

Neighbours appealed to 642k (11.6%) at 1.45pm on Channel 5, while the 5.30pm episode was seen by 859k (7.1%).

Home & Away attracted 309k (4.8%) at 1.15pm, 610k (4.2%) at 6pm, and 393k (2.5%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
