Coronation Street tops Friday's soap ratings

Coronation Street topped Friday's soap ratings (July 12) with the beginning of Lloyd and Paul's big feud, overnight figures show.

6.52m (38.0%) watched at 7.30pm on ITV and 204k (1.1%) on +1 as a remark from Paul sparked a row over racism at The Rovers, while the audience rose to 6.74m (36.4%) at 8.30pm and 271k (1.5%) on +1 with the continued tension between Paul and Lloyd.

Emmerdale took second place in the ratings as Vanessa and Rhona's showdown brought in 5.47m (34.5%) at 7pm on ITV and 186k (1.1%) on +1.

EastEnders interested 5.39m (30.6%) at 8pm on BBC One as Ian begged Lucy for help with his debt. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 177k (4.9%) at the later time of 12.55am.

Hollyoaks managed 593k (4.2%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with a tough time for Sinead, while E4's first look had 437k (2.8%) at 7pm and 115k (0.7%) on +1.

On Channel 5, Neighbours entertained 598k (11.2%) at 1.45pm and 709k (6.2%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away managed 246k (4.2%) at 1.15pm, 521k (4.0%) at 6pm and 451k (3.2%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
