Emmerdale and EastEnders were neck-and-neck in Thursday evening's soap ratings (July 11), overnight figures show.
Emmerdale brought in 5.41m (33.8%) at 7pm on ITV and 146k (0.8%) on +1 as Rhona burgled the vets' surgery, while the audience rose to 5.51m (29.4%) at 8pm and 230k (1.2%) on +1 as Vanessa realised who the culprit was.
EastEnders had 5.5m (32.3%) at 7.30pm on BBC One as Carl turned nastier with Ian. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 508k (3.4%) at 10.30pm.
Hollyoaks claimed 702k (5.0%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Sinead's dark storyline continued, while E4's first look had 511k (3.2%) at 7pm.
On Channel 5, Neighbours grabbed 653k (12.5%) at 1.45pm and 771k (6.9%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away managed 329k (5.7%) at 1.15pm, 546k (4.2%) at 6pm and 351k (2.5%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
