EastEnders was Thursday evening's most-watched soap

EastEnders topped Thursday evening's (June 20) soap ratings with the arrival of bad boy Carl White, overnight figures show.

Carl's first scenes were watched by 6.64m (33.7%) at 7.30pm on BBC One, while BBC Three's repeat screening secured 210k (8.3%) at the unusual time of 1am.

Emmerdale, meanwhile, pulled in 6.56m (34.7%) at 7pm on ITV and 115k (0.5%) on +1 with Katie and Declan's latest row. 6.15m (28.6%) returned at 8pm and 298k (1.4%) on +1 as Katie learned of Declan's one-night stand with Charity.

Waterloo Road interested 2.82m (13.1%) at 8pm on BBC One with the exits of Michael and Lorraine.

Hollyoaks claimed 889k (5.1%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Patrick turned nasty with Maxine, while E4's first look had 601k (3.2%) at 7pm.

On Channel 5, the conclusion of the Steph and Patrick story in Neighbours grabbed 721k (10.0%) at 1.45pm and 970k (7.0%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away managed 271k (3.8%) at 1.15pm, 669k (4.1%) at 6pm and 429k (2.4%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.28m (17.9%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
