EastEnders remains close to Emmerdale in the soap ratings

EastEnders was Wednesday evening's (May 29) most-watched soap but remained close to Emmerdale in the ratings, overnight figures show.

A one-off midweek visit to Walford, which saw lying Kirsty panic over her baby scan, brought 6.5m (31.4%) to BBC One at 7.30pm. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 538k (4.4%) at 10.45pm.

Emmerdale interested 6.48m (33.6%) at 7pm on ITV as Kerry continued with her own baby lie, adding 139k (0.6%) on +1.

Waterloo Road was seen by 3.09m (13.9%) at 8pm on BBC One with the latest developments in the Dynasty and Steve-O storyline.

Hollyoaks pulled in 957k (5.3%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Texas's funeral took place, while E4's first look had 510k (2.6%) at 7pm.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours grabbed 651k (8.2%) at 1.45pm and 967k (6.4%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away managed 254k (3.1%) at 1.15pm, 671k (4.0%) at 6pm and 421k (2.3%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, Doctors mustered 1.4m (17.9%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
