Coronation Street tops the Good Friday soap ratings

Coronation Street's trial week concluded with strong ratings on Good Friday (March 29) as 9.6 million viewers tuned in to discover Tyrone Dobbs's fate, overnight figures show.

The evening's first visit to Weatherfield attracted 9.4m (40.2%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 186k (0.8%) on +1 as Kirsty stormed into the courtroom to reveal Tyrone's innocence, while 9.59m (38.2%) watched at 8.30pm and 357k (1.6%) on +1 as Tyrone was cleared of all charges and Kirsty was led away in handcuffs.

EastEnders managed 7.06m (30.1%) at 8pm on BBC One as Liam was stabbed by the gang, while BBC Three's repeat screening secured 427k (2.7%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale interested 6.77m (31.7%) at 7pm on ITV as Belle's provocative photo went viral, adding 183k (0.8%) on +1.

Hollyoaks appealed to 792k (4.0%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with another surprise for Browning, while E4's first look had 522k (2.4%) at 7pm.

On Channel 5, Neighbours entertained 539k (5.7%) at 1.45pm and 805k (4.8%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away grabbed 629k (3.5%) at 6pm and 387k (1.9%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
