Coronation Street tops Monday evening's soap ratings

Coronation Street put in a strong performance on Monday evening (January 14) with the latest developments in Kylie's pregnancy plot, overnight figures show.

The Weatherfield soap pulled in 9.72m (40.2%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 215k (0.8%) on +1 as David learned of Kylie's baby news. 9.5m (36.7%) returned at 8.30pm and 218k (0.8%) on +1 to see David rush to the abortion clinic and beg Kylie to keep the baby.

EastEnders, meanwhile, attracted 8.77m (34.1%) at 8pm on BBC One as Dot returned to Albert Square. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 361k (2.2%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale interested 7.79m (33.9%) at 7pm with more trouble in Katie and Declan's marriage, adding 159k (0.6%) on +1.

Hollyoaks appealed to 1.14m (5.2%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Will was rushed to hospital, while E4's first look had 703k (3.1%) at 7pm and 116k (0.5%) on +1.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours returned with 772k (9.0%) at 1.45pm and 1.05m (6.0%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away mustered 830k (4.1%) at 6pm and 542k (2.5%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.92m (22.2%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
