Coronation Street was Friday evening's (January 4) most-watched soap with a double bill centring around Lewis and Gail, overnight figures show.
The Weatherfield drama pulled in 8.75m (37.2%) at 7.30pm on ITV1 and 186k (0.8%) on +1 as Lewis continued to plot against Gail by pretending to be in love with her, while 8.5m (34.9%) returned at 8.30pm and 326k (1.5%) on +1 as a gullible Gail fell for Lewis's scheme.
EastEnders, meanwhile, attracted 8.24m (34.7%) at 8pm on BBC One as the day of Derek's funeral arrived. The service itself interested 7.02m (29.5%) at 9pm.
Later, BBC Three's EastEnders repeat screenings secured 420k (2.3%) and 590k (4.1%) at 10.30pm and 11pm respectively.
Emmerdale appealed to 6.97m (31.4%) at 7pm as Charity sought answers over Jai's secret, adding 178k (0.7%) on +1.
Hollyoaks managed 973k (4.6%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Joel tried to murder Seamus, while E4's first look had 454k (2.0%) at 7pm.
Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.43m (17.0%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
