'EastEnders' overtakes 'Coronation Street' on Thursday night

EastEnders last night topped the soap ratings ahead of Coronation Street for the first time in nearly three months.

The court decision over baby Lexi was witnessed by 7.15m (32.9%) on BBC One at 7.30pm, while a one-off Thursday edition of Corrie attracted 7.1m (28.4%) for ITV.

BBC Three's 10.30pm EastEnders repeat managed 481,000, while ITV1 +1's showing of Corrie took 375k.

The Albert Square serial last came out on top over its ITV rival on Friday, September 21.

Emmerdale, which has been on good form of late, dipped to 6.73m (32.4%) in the show's earlier edition and 6.7m (28.8%) at 8pm (+1: 265k).

Elsewhere, Channel 4's 6.30pm edition of Hollyoaks mustered 974k (4.8%), then E4's first look commanded 655k (3.2%) at 7pm (+1: 156k).

Meanwhile, 5's latest Neighbours instalment appealed to 622k (8.5%) at 1.45pm and 985k (6%) at 5.30pm, after which Home and Away took 714k (3.8%), as well as 464k (2.3%) for 5*'s first look.

Finally, a festive edition of Doctors titled 'Follow That Star!' fetched 1.32m (18.1%) in its normal lunchtime slot.
