Fans of Hollyoaks switched over to E4 in their droves on Friday night to watch the aftermath of Jono's death.
Some 869,000 - a 4% share of all viewers - watched 7pm's first look episode which focused on Ste Hay's critical condition, as well as a further 166k on +1.
The 6.30pm broadcast of Jono's death and Dylan Llewellyn's final appearance managed 1.19m (5.7%) and 106k on timeshift, the teen soap's highest Channel 4 rating all week.
Coronation Street's figures dipped as the show had to contend with BBC One's Children in Need. A Steve McDonald-inspired orgy of fun amused 7.11m (30.3%) at 7.30pm (+1: 141k) and 6.16m (24.6%) at 8.30pm (+1: 114k).
Emmerdale picked up 6.41m (29.6%) in its usual 7pm slot for an edition which saw Cain Dingle punch Cameron Murray, adding 215k on ITV1 +1.
Elsewhere, the latest instalment of Neighbours drew 615k (8.4%) at 1.45pm and 1.07m (6.4%) at 5.30pm, while fellow Aussie soap Home and Away took 733k (3.8%) at 6pm and grabbed 450k (2.2%) for 5*'s first look.
Meanwhile, Doctors averaged 1.43m (19.5%) for a story titled 'Artist in Residence'.
