'Emmerdale' beats 'EastEnders' on Monday night...

Emmerdale's bumper ratings for its anniversary storyline have continued into this week.



The 40-year-old ITV soap, which increased its audience on the equivalent episode last week, claimed its first Monday win over EastEnders in recent memory on October 22.

Cain, Debbie and Charity's attack on love cheats Chas and Cameron was seen by 7.64 million (35.1%) at 7pm, ahead of the 7.62m (31.3%) for 8pm's EastEnders by the tiniest of margins.

Emmerdale added 214k (0.9%) on ITV1 +1, while BBC Three's 10.30pm Albert Square catchup took 442k (2.7%).

Coronation Street led the pack with 8.62m (37.4%) at 7.30pm - and 156k (0.6%) on ITV1 +1 - for an instalment which climaxed with Steve McDonald dumping girlfriend Michelle.

This Monday however, Corrie's second episode in the double bill performed worse than the first, drawing 8.33m (34.3%) at 8.30pm (+1: 197k/0.8%) - perhaps suffering slightly from the inheritance from Paul O'Grady, whose programme finished last week.

Elsewhere, Hollyoaks mustered 929k (4.5%) and 556k (2.5%) for E4's first look, while Doctors averaged 1.46m (19.2%) for a story titled 'Seconds Away'.

Neighbours's latest edition appealed to 677k (8.9%) at 1.45pm and 914k (5.7%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away fetched 732k (4%) and 451k (2.2%) for 5*'s first look.
