Emmerdale stayed well above the 7m mark with the second episode of its 40th anniversary week on Tuesday evening (October 16), overnight figures show.
The ITV1 soap pulled in 7.43m (35.1%) at 7pm with the build-up to this evening's live episode, adding 268k (1.1%) on +1.
EastEnders was the most-watched soap of the day, attracting 7.68m (33.5%) at 7.30pm on BBC One with Christian and Syed's wedding. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 556k (3.8%) at 10.30pm.
Also on BBC One, Holby City entertained 5.08m (19.6%) at 8pm with an episode titled 'The Third Way'.
Hollyoaks appealed to 1.07m (5.3%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Martha returned to the village, while E4's first look had 512k (2.4%) at 7pm and 105k (0.4%) on timeshift.
Over on Channel 5, Neighbours grabbed 702k (9.9%) at 1.45pm and 1.04m (6.8%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away managed 854k (4.7%) at 6pm and 540k (2.7%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.43m (20.2%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
