Emmerdale kicked off its 40th anniversary week with 7.5m viewers on Monday evening (October 15), overnight figures show.
The rural drama pulled in 7.51m (35.5%) at 7pm on ITV1 as Chas tricked Carl into thinking that she would run away with him, adding 158k (0.6%) on +1.
Coronation Street, meanwhile, remained Monday's most-watched soap. The Weatherfield serial attracted 8.68m (38.4%) at 7.30pm and 131k (0.5%) on +1 as Audrey worried about Lewis's whereabouts, while Penny's visit to Audrey brought in 8.95m (36.7%) at 8.30pm and 234k (1.0%) on timeshift.
EastEnders interested 7.87m (32.1%) at 8pm on BBC One with Christian and Syed's stag party dramas, while BBC Three's repeat screening secured 608k (4.1%) at 10.30pm.
Hollyoaks managed 883k (4.4%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 110k (0.5%) on +1 as Tony proposed to Cindy, while E4's first look had 508k (2.4%) at 7pm.
Over on Channel 5, Neighbours grabbed 732k (10.3%) at 1.45pm and 999k (6.4%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away appealed to 818k (4.5%) at 6pm and 531k (2.6%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.36m (19.1%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
