'Coronation Street' Kirsty scheme seen by 8.4m on Monday

Coronation Street topped Monday evening's (October 1) soap ratings with Kirsty's latest twisted behaviour, overnight figures show.

The Weatherfield serial pulled in 8.41m (37.8%) at 7.30pm on ITV1 and 245k (1.0%) on +1 as Kirsty threatened to take Ruby away from Tyrone if he dumped her. 8.4m (34.4%) returned at 8.30pm and 376k (1.6%) on timeshift as a helpless Tyrone was forced to reconsider his plans.

EastEnders, meanwhile, pulled in 6.91m (28.7%) at 8pm on BBC One as Kat and Alfie returned home to The Vic. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 578k (4.0%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale interested 6.66m (32.8%) at 7pm as Gabby made a false accusation against Marlon, adding 157k (0.7%) an hour later.

Hollyoaks grabbed 1.04m (5.6%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Riley discovered Mercedes's latest deception, while E4's first look had 686k (3.4%) at 7pm.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours managed 670k (9.5%) at 1.45pm and 886k (6.0%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away mustered 717k (4.2%) at 6pm and 449k (2.4%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.49m (21.2%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
