Coronation Street claimed 7.7m viewers in Wednesday evening's (September 12) ratings as the surrogacy storyline took a new twist, overnight figures show.
The Weatherfield soap pulled in 7.71m (37.3%) at 7.30pm on ITV1 as Tina secretly considered becoming a surrogate mum for Gary and Izzy to solve her financial difficulties, adding 274k (1.3%) on +1.
Emmerdale, meanwhile, attracted 6.39m (32.7%) at 7pm and 194k (1.0%) on timeshift as Carl secured evidence he could use against Chas.
Hollyoaks managed 716k (3.8%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Myra finally saw Mercedes's true colours, while E4's first look had 574k (2.9%) at 7pm.
Over on Channel 5, Neighbours grabbed 654k (9.5%) at 1.45pm and 831k (6.0%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away had 547k (3.3%) at 6pm and 434k (2.3%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.51m (21.8%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
