'Coronation Street' tops Monday evening's soap ratings

Coronation Street topped the soap ratings on Monday evening (September 3) as Kirsty Soames continued to stir up trouble on the cobbles, overnight figures show.

The Weatherfield drama pulled in 7.96m (37.1%) at 7.30pm and 231k (0.9%) on +1 as Kirsty put pressure on Tina and Tommy over their latest loan repayment. Later, 8.21m (33.8%) watched at 8.30pm and 253k (1.0%) on timeshift as Tommy had a road accident following his difficult day.

EastEnders, meanwhile, attracted 6.86m (29.2%) at 8pm on BBC One as Kat Moon's affair storyline continued. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 644k (4.2%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale interested 5.89m (30.6%) at 7pm as Amy felt let down by Kerry yet again, adding 173k (0.7%) on +1.

Hollyoaks, moved to E4 for the week due to Channel 4's extended Paralympics coverage, managed 406k (2.3%) at 6.30pm and 104k (0.5%) on timeshift. Afterwards, E4's usual first look screening appealed to 549k (2.8%) at 7pm and 114k (0.5%) an hour later.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours grabbed 624k (9.3%) at 1.45pm and 951k (7.2%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away returned following its summer break with 730k (4.6%) at 6pm and 411k (2.3%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors mustered 1.2m (17.7%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
