Ratings: Hollyoaks boosted by Lynsey murder plot conclusion

Hollyoaks enjoyed an audience boost on both Channel 4 and E4 on Tuesday evening (August 21) as the Lynsey Nolan 'whodunit' mystery reached its climax, overnight figures show.

955k (5.5%) watched at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 101k (0.5%) on +1 as twisted Doctor Browning explained why he killed Lynsey, before kidnapping Mercedes.

The aftermath for Lynsey's loved ones on E4's first look was enjoyed by 610k (3.2%) at 7pm and 125k (0.6%) on timeshift.

EastEnders was the most-watched soap of the day, pulling in 7.52m (37.0%) at 7.30pm on BBC One as Shirley finally dumped Phil. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 774k (5.0%) at 10.30pm.

Also on BBC One, Holby City entertained 5m (22.6%) at 8pm with an episode titled 'The Devil Will Come'.

Emmerdale, meanwhile, attracted 6.01m (31.8%) at 7pm on ITV1 with Rachel's ongoing baby dramas, adding 158k (0.7%) on +1.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours grabbed 620k (8.7%) at 1.45pm and 883k (6.7%) at 5.30pm, while classic episodes of Home and Away on 5* appealed to 155k (1.0%) and 175k (1.0%) at 6pm and 6.30pm respectively.

Elsewhere, the latest edition of Doctors - titled 'Walter' - was seen by 1.3m (18.5%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
