Coronation Street topped a lacklustre day for the soaps yesterday (Thursday), overnight figures reveal.
Dev Alahan's corner shop breakdown in Weatherfield's standalone 8.30pm instalment attracted 6.19m (28.4%) and 328k (1.5%) an hour later on ITV1 +1.
Emmerdale's double bill - centring around Jai's backtrack on his wish for Rachel to abort their baby - took 5.51m (32.6%) at 7pm (+1: 174k/0.9%) and 5.3m (26.4%) at 8pm (+1: 278k/1.3%).
Meanwhile, Hollyoaks sunk to its lowest-ever Channel 4 rating of 530k (3.4%) for its normal 6.30pm showing. The teen soap's first look followed with 395k (2.3%).
Neighbours held up well for Channel 5 with an aggregated audience of nearly 1.5m - 646k (9.9%) at 1.45pm and 826k (4.1%) at 5.30pm. Home and Away aired at 6pm with 601k (4.2%), after which 375k (2.4%) stayed for 5*'s first look.
Doctors' final episode before its two-week Olympic hiatus - titled 'Nice Packet' - drew 1.05m (16.3%) in its usual lunchtime slot on BBC One.
