A star from the original version of Prisoner has revealed that she wants a role in the remake.

Val Lehman, who played Bea in the '80s Australian prison series known as Prisoner: Cell Block H in the UK, said that she has already offered her services for a lead part in the new version and is not interested in any small guest roles.

She told The Daily Telegraph: "F**k the cameo. I want to play the governor. I think it would be great to be a part of the show. And I've played a prisoner, so I'd love to play an authority figure this time around. I think that'd be great fun."

Prisoner, which will be renamed Wentworth, was originally believed to have been picked up by Channel Ten, but it has now been revealed that it will be aired on Foxtel later this year.

The company's director of TV Brian Walsh said: "Wentworth will be a dynamic and very confronting drama series. We have told producers to push all the boundaries and honestly depict life inside as it is in 2012."

Last year, Lehman claimed that her former Prisoner co-stars are "jealous" that she makes more money from the show than them, due to a royalty payment clause that she had written into her contract before the series premiered.

Embarrassing as it may be to admit it, I've seen every single episode of the original series, some of them twice!

I've absolutely no wish to go through that experience again.

Also as I remember it. Leahman's exit from the original series was very tame.
