Emmerdale stayed well above the 7m mark on Wednesday evening as John Barton faced an uncertain future, overnight figures show.
Emmerdale pulled in 7.52m (34.8%) at 7pm as John prepared for the worst following his grilling from the police over Cain's attack. The ITV1+1 screening was seen by 137k (0.6%) an hour later.
Hollyoaks, meanwhile, attracted 1.22m (5.9%) on Channel 4 at 6.30pm as the Maddie, Callum and Tara love triangle continued. Nancy's fears for Mitzeee then brought 592k (2.7%) to E4's first look at 7pm and 115k (0.5%) on E4+1.
Over on Channel 5,
Neighbours entertained 760k (10.2%) at 1.45pm and 1.36m (8.2%) at 5.30pm, while
Home and Away secured 1m (5.2%) at 6pm and 518k (2.5%) for 5*'s first look.
Doctors' latest episode - titled 'Officers' Mess' - brought 1.64m (22.1%) to BBC One at lunchtime.
