Soap ratings: 'Coronation Street' Max drama seen by 9.6m

Coronation Street topped the soap ratings on Monday evening as Max's return to the cobbles proved problematic, overnight figures show.

Coronation Street pulled in 9.6m (40.2%) at 7.30pm as Max did a disappearing act shortly after coming to live with Kylie and David for good. A further 184k (0.7%) watched on timeshift.

EastEnders, meanwhile, attracted 8.64m (34.2%) at 8pm as Roxy was threatened by bad boy Derek. The BBC Three repeat took 708k (3.4%) at 10pm.

Emmerdale entertained 7.59m (33.1%) at 7pm as Jai and Charity called off their wedding, while Hollyoaks had 1.2m (5.5%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 690k (3.0%) for the E4 first look at 7pm.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours appealed to 685k (9.1%) at 1.45pm and 1.35m (7.9%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away interested 885k (4.5%) at 6pm. 5*'s first look at the Summer Bay soap managed 560k (2.5%) at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest edition of Doctors - titled 'Visions' - pulled in 1.72m (22.9%) at lunchtime.
